MAHA Market at Liberty University

The event will feature a panel discussion with health and policy experts, while also giving students a chance to sample healthy and organic offerings from local farmers and small businesses.

Inspired by the “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) movement sweeping the nation, students with the Freedom Center Society and Liberty University’s Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter will co-host a “MAHA Market” tomorrow, September 16th, at the LaHaye event space from 4:30 to 9 p.m.

The event will showcase the organic and healthy offerings of local farmers and small businesses, including the Vincent Van Gogh Café, Hope Beauty Network, Make Your Grass Greener Wellness, Bee Tree Soap, and Jan’s Blossom Farm. In addition, representatives from the LU Murph Challenge will showcase their efforts to combat veteran suicide through and holistic health.

The event will also give students an opportunity to sit in on panel discussions with political leaders and health experts on such topics as “Championing Health Freedom: A Patient-First Perspective”; “Public Health & Personal Choice: A Conversation with Virginia’s Leaders”; and “Gen Z’s Role in America’s Health Crisis.”

Featured guests include members of the Virginia Medical Freedom Alliance; Virginia Secretary of Health Janet Kelly; Virginia State Sen. Mark Peake; the “MAHA Girls”; and Aaron Van Allen, who serves as department chair and professor of government at Liberty’s Helms School of Government.

Participants can also take free lessons in tote bag painting, gardening, flower arranging, and line dancing.

The “MAHA Market” ties in with the ambitious national effort spearheaded by U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to reform America’s food, health, and scientific systems.

Steps already underway under Kennedy’s leadership include removing petroleum-based dyes from food, restoring trust in vaccine safety, investigating the root causes of autism, and bringing radical transparency to the HHS. These actions aim to successfully address America’s epidemics of chronic disease, obesity, and drug abuse.

The White House has backed the effort, issuing two executive orders to achieve the MAHA objectives.

EO 14212 states:

“To fully address the growing health crisis in America, we must re-direct our national focus, in the public and private sectors, toward understanding and drastically lowering chronic disease rates and ending childhood chronic disease.”

The second EO, 13045, directs that “each federal agency shall make it a high priority to identify and assess environmental health risks and safety risks that may disproportionately affect children; and shall ensure that its policies, programs, activities, and standards address disproportionate risks to children that result from environmental health risks or safety risks.”

The concept of “MAHA” also points to something broader: making a personal commitment to eliminate toxic elements from one’s diet and pursuing a more natural, holistic approach to health. Not only is this approach a refreshing shift culturally and politically, but it is also rooted in Biblical worldview principles.

In 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, the Apostle Paul instructs believers:

“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.”

This passage reminds Christians that caring for their bodies is not optional but is commanded by God.

The ”MAHA Market” event is a unique collaboration between two student-led entities demonstrating how the next generation of Christian leaders values health and wellness through a biblical lens.

The “MAHA Market” is one of several events being hosted this fall by the Standing for Freedom Center and the student-led Freedom Center Society.

The most high-profile will be “Freedom Uncensored” on October 24-25, which will feature nationally recognized speakers and influencers, along with an exclusive VIP dinner.
