As Twitter and other Big Tech platforms ramp up their censorship and purge of conservative and dissenting voices and information, many, including major influencer Joe Rogan, are embracing alternative methods of dispensing information.
Twitter has gained a reputation for censorship, and it seems that the exit of former CEO Jack Dorsey has only accelerated its penchant for squashing dissent. Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was permanently suspended from Twitter over the weekend. “We permanently suspended Marjorie Taylor Greene for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy,” Twitter wrote in a statement. “We’ve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy.”
On Saturday, Greene tweeted that “an extremely high amount of covid vaccine deaths” were being ignored.
Greene responded on social media upstart GETTR, writing, “When Maxine Waters can go to the streets and threaten violence on Twitter, Kamala and Ilhan can bail out rioters on Twitter, and Chief spokesman for terrorist IRGC can tweet mourning Soleimani but I get suspended for tweeting VAERS statistics, Twitter is an enemy to America and can’t handle the truth.” She added, “That’s fine, I’ll show America we don’t need them and it’s time to defeat our enemies.”
Podcaster Joe Rogan also joined GETTR and advocated for his followers to do the same. The move came after Twitter permanently suspended Dr. Robert Malone, who helped develop mRNA vaccine technology, two days before his appearance on Rogan’s podcast. Malone, who also started an account on GETTR, said on his Substack,
“We all knew it would happen eventually. Today it did. Over a half million followers gone in a blink of an eye. That means I must have been on the mark, so to speak. Over the target. It also means we lost a critical component in our fight to stop these vaccines being mandated for children and to stop the corruption in our governments, as well as the medical-industrial complex and pharmaceutical industries.”
Malone continued, “Substack is absolutely the best way to see my writings. I appreciate everyone’s support in signing up for my newsletter. It truly matters to me.”
Twitter also temporarily suspended journalist and Just The News founder John Solomon’s account after the news site noted that there was a legal distinction between the FDA-approved Pfizer vaccine known as Comirnaty and the one allowed under emergency use authorization (EUA). Twitter called the story “unsafe.”
Solomon responded, “It is outrageous and unfair that a story that is completely accurate and points out an important legal distinction between the two versions of vaccines gets blocked and my account suspended.”
He added, “The distinction was important enough for a federal judge to note. The story and my post weren’t unsafe. The only threat is to the safety of the 1st Amendment afflicted by Twitter’s wrongheaded decision.”
Judge Allen Winsor of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida ruled that “FDA licensure does not retroactively apply to vials shipped before BLA approval” and “the DOD cannot mandate vaccines that only have an EUA.”
Stanford School of Medicine professor Jay Bhattacharya noted, “There is nothing in the [Just the News] story that is not well reported or misleading. Twitter’s censorship of COVID information has contributed greatly to the collapse in trust in public health.”
Twitter also suspended the account of company Grabien Media after it posted a quote from U.S. Congressman Andy Biggs. “Rep. Biggs: Big Pharma Won’t Consider Therapeutics Like HCQ or Ivermectin Because of Economic Interests,” the tweet read. Grabien founder Tom Elliott called it, “next-level Twitter absurdity” and added, “Obviously, in this case, quoting an elected leader on an issue that matters to everyone is important and newsworthy, regardless of whether you agree. And I can’t help but add that his basic point was once mainstream among progressives.”
Twitter is currently in the midst of a legal battle with former New York Times science journalist Alex Berenson, who was suspended from the platform for his criticisms of the government’s response to COVID-19 and the effectiveness of the vaccines. His lawsuit says, “Mr. Berenson also has a uniquely viable claim that Twitter acted on behalf of the federal government in censoring and barring him from to its platform.”
Twitter isn’t the only social media company that has further ramped up its censorship of users who post the “wrong” opinions or data. Tom Fitton, the conservative founder of JudicialWatch, says that the Chinese-owned video platform TikTok permanently suspended his account without warning, and earlier today, Facebook permanently suspended the ads page for Heroes of Liberty, a conservative children’s book publisher — which has published books about Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, former President Ronald Reagan, and author and economist Thomas Sowell. Facebook claimed the suspension was for low quality or disruptive content.
Editor and board member Bethany Mandel said, “We are not in politics, we are in the business of creating beautiful stories about great people that will entertain children and give them life lessons.” She added, “To cancel children’s books because they celebrate American values that 90% of Americans believe in isn’t even anti-conservative bias, it’s anti-American. Pure madness.”
YouTube has also reportedly begun systematically deleting posted clips of Dr Malone’s interview with Joe Rogan, and Google is being accused of manually manipulating searches of Dr. Malone’s reference to the development of mass formation psychosis as a result of the COVID lockdowns.
Does anyone trust YouTube’s or Twitter’s “fact checkers” over Dr. Malone, who helped develop mRNA vaccine technology and is an expert in bioethics? Does anyone really believe that these social media giants have anyone’s best interest at heart other than their own political and economic agendas? This is political censorship, as was made even more clear when White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki admitted earlier this year that the Biden administration was working with social media companies to censor accounts over COVID misinformation.
The only solution to this censorship is to make Twitter, Facebook, and other censorial platforms irrelevant. Switch to alternative sites, whether they be GETTR, which has already surpassed 1 million users, Telegram, Rumble, Substack, or others. While Big Tech leviathans are able to use the Internet to censor dissent, the Internet by its democratic nature allows multiple avenues for the spread of information and opinions through alternative platforms that refuse to censor based on political and scientific content.
Twitter, Facebook, and other Big Tech platforms will eventually lose their power and ability to influence political, medical, and cultural discourse if enough users leave their platforms or rely on other sources to receive news, information, and opinions. The good news is that by failing to allow free and healthy debate about important issues on public platforms, short-sighted Big Tech leaders appear to be doing their best to help speed this process along and ensure their own decline.
