Women should never have to suffer sexual harassment. It is one of the most humiliating and devastating acts that could be committed against anyone, and many politicians (Republican and Democrat) have preyed on unsuspecting women over the years. Unfortunately, the stories of many women who have been sexually assaulted get drowned out by indifference.
Recently, the Democratic party and the left-wing media have prided themselves on advocating for women who have been sexually assaulted, leading to the rise of the #MeToo movement. While this appears pious on the surface, they have used the cries of these victims to slander elected or nominated conservative Republican officials.
Brett Kavanaugh, when a nominee for Supreme Court Justice, faced backlash and immense scrutiny when Christine Blasey Ford accused him of sexual assault on September 16, 2018. The next day, Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, demanded that the FBI launch an investigation into Ford’s claims “to ensure that the Senate and American public have complete information about this troubling alleged incident before a hearing is held.”
Immediately, Democrats and the media erupted in outrage over Ford’s testimony and utilized media time, protestors, and other resources to demand that Kavanaugh’s nomination be revoked. Furthermore, former Vice President Joe Biden offered his take on how Ford’s claims should have been received. “For a woman to come forward in the glaring lights of focus, nationally, you’ve got to start off with the presumption that at least the essence of what she’s talking about is real,” Biden said, “whether or not she forgets facts, whether or not it’s been made worse or better over time.”
In the end, all the protests, accusations, and attempts to prevent Kavanaugh’s nomination failed, and Kavanaugh is now faithfully serving the American people as a Supreme Court Associate Justice.
Two years later, another politician has faced a series of sexual assault allegations. That man is none other than Joe Biden.
Beginning on March 29, several women have accused Biden of sexual assault, culminating with Tara Reade, a former staffer of Biden’s when he served as a U.S. Senator. Reade has come forth in “glaring lights of focus” to the national scene and has voiced a grimly detailed account of what allegedly took place in 1993.

If one accusation was enough to publicly crucify Kavanaugh, the sheer amount of accusations against Biden should substantiate a dialogue frenzy and investigation of the facts on Capitol Hill and in the media.
Neither of those things are happening.
The indifference of the same Democratic leaders and media that say they will hear the cries of oppressed women is astounding. Schumer, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and the left-winged media have all evaded addressing the claims against Biden. Kate Bedingfield, deputy campaign manager and communications director for Biden’s presidential campaign, said that “reporters have an obligation to rigorously vet those claims. We encourage them to do so, because these accusations are false.” However, no one on the left has dared to investigate these claims for fear that a powerful politician could lose his credibility before the presidential election.
This double standard on the left not only robs the American people of ensuring that the “American public have complete information about this troubling alleged incident” (as Schumer said), but also ignores the women they vowed to protect.
Democrats and the media minimize sexual assault allegations to a mere political weapon to tear down politicians when convenient for them. The failure to apply the same standard to themselves speaks volumes to their hypocrisy.
Christians are called to take on God’s attitude towards the oppressed and to hear their plight. Psalm 103:6 says, “The Lord performs righteous deeds and judgments for all who are oppressed.” We should not rely on our government to solve these problems, especially when much of the problem lies within it. We must passionately pursue truth and be the trailblazers for these women to make sure they are heard.
